Insurance Nerds Rejoice! There’s a Day Just for You.

If you’ve followed us for any length of time, you probably have heard of Insurance Nerd Day, but if you haven’t, allow us to fill you in.

Insurance Nerd Day was created with one goal in mind: to showcase professions in the insurance industry and prove to non-insurance folks how not boring the insurance industry is.

Since its inception, Insurance Nerd Day has spread far and wide. You’ll find people talking about it every year on July 18th because it’s a mindset of insurance professionals everywhere.

Don’t believe us? Search the hashtag #insurancenerdday on any social media platform and you’ll see this to be true.

We love that industry professionals worldwide have joined in on the conversation because it helps further spread the message about our industry and encourages jobseekers to consider our profession.

We have a bevy of careers in this industry that appeals to all types of people. Math enthusiast? Marketing aficionado? People-person? Or maybe you enjoy climbing on roofs? We have a job for each of you and so much more.

Often times, we, in the insurance industry, are seen as nothing but stuffy, boring, pencil pushers, who don’t care about you or your needs. In reality, insurance folks are some of the most passionate career professionals you’ll ever meet. Not just at Pioneer, but industrywide. 

When you work in the insurance industry, a strange phenomenon occurs. Whether you join with a degree in insurance or you just sort of “fall into it,” you tend to become passionate about the work you do. It blindsides you because more often than not, you come into this industry with the same preconceived notions as the general public and then you find yourself being interested in or, dare we say, fascinated by the work you do. What once seemed like a potentially boring career turns into a passion. We can’t explain it, but it happens all the time. You begin to “nerd out” about forms and policy language with your colleagues and industry friends. Suddenly, you’re eager to help people understand their coverage and you’re excited when you can make a customer whole again. You’re fueled by the moments when you help someone and they’re so grateful for the service you provided them.

That’s how you become an “Insurance Nerd.”

Now, the term “nerd” has had a negative connotation in the past but in our industry it’s cool to be a nerd. A nerd, to us, means you enjoy the work you do and you’re fanatical about insurance.

If being a nerd is wrong, we don’t want to be right.

So, who cares, right? Well, if you're looking for a new career, look no further. Our industry is full of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. There is a place for everyone here. 

And if you’re a customer or an outsider looking in, you should absolutely care because it means that no matter where you go or what insurance company or agency you choose, you’re going to find passionate and caring industry professionals who want to help you.

We think that’s extremely important in any service you require.

So, here’s to you, Insurance Nerds! This is your day. Celebrate your accomplishments! You’ve earned it.
