Manages a team of adjusters focused on providing superior service to our policyholders and independent agency partners.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with policyholders, our agency partners, vendors and other departments to maintain superior customer service and to ensure prompt and fair claim resolutions
- Coordinate relevant claims information with Loss Control, SIU, Underwriting, Marketing, etc. to proactively manage risks that effectively helps us offer a competitive product
- Provide guidance and training to adjusters throughout the state of Michigan to achieve department and company goals
- Effectively align the team’s daily operations to business objectives
- Balance and manage the team and independent adjuster workloads
- Provide technical guidance to team members on personal, commercial and farm losses
- Complete file reviews, approve payments promptly and provide settlement authority
- Oversee files to maintain quality standards and to ensure company practices are being followed
- Talent management and development for field adjusting or other positions within PSM
- Assess and manage employee performance and productivity
- Assist in Catastrophe Planning and Management
- Identify and preserve salvage and subrogation opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 7 + years direct claims experience required; 3-5 years in claims management preferred
- Effective leader with a positive attitude, willingness to adapt to changing technology and the ability to operate efficiently in a fast paced claims environment
- Highly organized, detail driven and the ability to prioritize and delegate work as appropriate
- Knowledge of personal, commercial and farm polices and the Michigan regulatory environment
- Proficient in assessing coverage and reserve evaluation
- Familiarity with construction practices and principles
- Insurance industry designations preferred; AIC, CPCU
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and scoping/writing structural estimates in Xactimate
Physical Requirements:
- Periods of sitting, standing, working at a computer, including video calls and in person meetings
- Ability to meet with claims staff in field
- This position is based out of our Home Office in Flint, Michigan with the current hybrid work schedule:
- Monday and Friday: optional WFH
- Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday: in-person at home office location
- Overall business travel-less than 10%
