Seeking experienced Actuarial Analyst to provide primarily Commercial Lines support with ratemaking, loss reserving, and performance monitoring responsibilities within the Actuarial Department. This position requires the ability to develop strong relationships through quality customer service, creative problem resolution, and sound analytics while working with the Marketing, Underwriting, Information Services, and Finance departments. This position is based out of our Home Office in Flint, Michigan with the current hybrid work schedule:
- Monday and Friday: optional WFH
- Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday: in-person at home office location
Responsibilities:
- Monitor primarily the company’s commercial lines of business with various performance metrics.
- Develop rate indications by line of business.
- Perform loss reserving on all lines of business using multiple techniques and recommend reserve levels to Chief Actuary.
- Analyze company loss experience and trends as well as industry experience to support ratemaking.
- Facilitate the rate change process and document rate changes by line of business.
- Prepare formal written Actuarial recommendations for the Chief Actuary and the company’s management team.
- Prepare supporting exhibits for rate filings by line of business and respond to department of insurance inquiries.
- Respond to ad hoc analyses and requests, as well as other special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Five years or more of related work experience required, along with a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or Ph. D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two exams are required (completion of 4+ exams preferred).
- Comfortable with computer automation, including the Microsoft Office Suite, and preferably a working knowledge of MS Access, SQL, or Visual Basic.
- Familiarity with GLMs and predictive modeling is preferred but not required.
