Our Thoughts Are With Those Impacted by the Recent Michigan Tornadoes

We are deeply saddened by the recent tornadoes that touched down across Michigan, resulting in significant property damage and, tragically, loss of life. Our thoughts are with everyone affected. If you or your loved ones were impacted, we hope you are safe and know that we are thinking about you during this difficult time.
Your safety and well being come first. Once you are safe and able, the following best practices may help as you begin the recovery process.

Please Stay Safe

  • Do not enter damaged structures until authorities say it is safe to do so.
  • Be mindful of downed power lines, gas leaks, unstable structures, and debris.
  • If emergency services instruct you to evacuate or restrict access, please follow their guidance

Document the Damage

  • Take clear photos or videos of all visible damage before making repairs, if it is safe to do so.
  • Capture damage to the exterior, interior, and personal property.
  • Continue to document damage as conditions change or additional issues become visible.

Protect Your Property from Further Damage

  • Make reasonable and necessary temporary repairs to prevent additional damage (for example, tarping a roof or boarding broken windows).
  • Keep receipts for materials, supplies, or services used for these temporary repairs.

Temporary Living Expenses

  • If you are displaced from your home, keep a log of temporary lodging and meal expenses.
  • Save all receipts related to hotels, short term rentals, meals, and other necessary living expenses incurred due to displacement.

Do Not Dispose of Damaged Property

  • Please do not throw away damaged items until your insurance company has had an opportunity to review them or has authorized disposal.
  • If items must be removed for safety or health reasons, take photos first and keep samples when possible.

Watercraft Advantage
This endorsement adds coverage for the following:

Replacement Boat or Motor
If during the policy period you acquire another watercraft or motor in the same class as (and intended to replace) a watercraft or motor insured on your policy, we will cover the newly acquired watercraft or motor for 30 days after you become the owner.

In case of loss, we will pay no more than the least of:

  1. the amount of insurance on the watercraft or motor being replaced
  2. the cost of the new watercraft or motor

The coverage does not apply if there is any other valid or collectible insurance on the newly purchased watercraft or motor.

Newly Purchased Additional Boat or Motor
If during the policy period you acquire a new watercraft or motor in the same class as the watercraft or motor insured on your policy, we will cover the newly acquired watercraft or motor for 30 days after you become the owner.

In case of loss, we will pay no more than the least of:

  1. 25% of the amount of insurance on the watercraft or motor insured on your policy
  2. the cost of the new watercraft or motor

The coverage is excess over any other valid or collectible insurance.

Emergency Travel
We will reimburse you up to $500 for actual costs you incur for travel, lodging, and meals incurred while you must be away from your primary residence to resolve a covered Watercraft loss.

No deductible applies to this coverage. You must provide us with receipts for these costs.

Property of Others
Coverage for Auxiliary Equipment and Personal Property (as described in the Watercraft Physical Damage endorsement) can be extended to the same class of property owned by others and on-board the insured watercraft if damaged in a covered loss.
This coverage extension applies solely at your option and is not mandatory.

This coverage extension does not increase the $2,500 Auxiliary Equipment or $1,000 Personal Property sub-limits.

First Aid Expenses
If there is a loss covered under Coverage F (Medical Payments to Others): We will reimburse you up to $250 for your first aid supplies used in the course of treating an injury which occurs on board your covered Watercraft, or while towing another party with your covered watercraft.

No deductible applies to this coverage.

Pet Injury and Accidental Death
For covered losses: we will pay up to a maximum of $500 per animal and up to $1,000 in the aggregate per loss (regardless of the number of pets) to cover emergency procedures or medications prescribed by a veterinarian should your cat(s) or dog(s) be injured in an accident while on board your covered watercraft.

Should your cat(s) or dog(s) die as a result of injuries sustained in a covered loss while on board your covered watercraft, we will pay a death benefit of $500 per animal and up to a maximum of $1,000 in the aggregate per loss (regardless of the number of pets).
